/ June 2010; "Why did the turtle cross the road?" Because we built it! Honestly, each May and June we encounter thousands of turtles crossing our roads in New England. The reason for this is simple! The females are headed to an upland area where they will try and lay eggs. Unforntunately, we also see males that have been transplanted by unsupspecting humans who thought they needed to be relocated to a better place only to end causing more trouble for these reptiles when they try to walk all the way home. Never relocate a turtle with out consulting a professional. If you do it's probably the last move it will ever make. | ||||||||||
